I've installed it, but kies is saying I can't update through it. Any way round this?

Either way, it's the latest version. I'm just happy to have a stable version of Bada 2.0

type *#272*current time# and change the CSC to your country such as XEU, DBT or XEO and have a hard reset by *2767*3855#
hopefully Kies will recognise your device.

Ok if you want to reflash it then tick on full download only (do not tick boot change) and then flash and do the method i already stated above.

It's still not recognising it. It's listing the current firmware version as "S8500XXLA1/S8500OXALA1 (XEU)" Is this correct?

Yes correct but for me it says its the latest firmware
