It has consistently been rumored that the Galaxy Note 7 is going to feature an iris scanner, making it the first consumer handset from Samsung to bring this technology to the market. We have seen leaked photos which reiterate rumors that this feature will see the light of day with the Galaxy Note 7 and today we're finally getting to see the iris scanner in action. A video has been leaked out of China which shows off the iris scanner in all its glory.

You might notice that the Galaxy Note 7 in the video has a flat display instead of the dual-edge curved display that it's due to come with. It's believed that Samsung created full-fledged prototypes of the flat variant in order to test the hardware while concealing the real appearance of the Galaxy Note 7 but given that so many renders and pictures have been leaked online the efforts have all gone in vain. We can see in the video that the iris scanner works like a charm, it's blazing fast as we expected and makes it very easy for the user to gain access to the device. All that's left now is for Samsung to formally unveil the Galaxy Note 7 on August 2 and tell us when it will be out and how much it's going to cost.

The company embraced this identity, and in some of its online stores for key regions, it even dedicated an entire “Upgrade your Galaxy Note” section on Galaxy S23 Ultra landing pages. In this section dedicated to Galaxy […]

Galaxy S10+ screen protector almost perfectly fits a Galaxy Note 7

Remember the Galaxy Note 7? The last of Samsung's flagship smartphones with the traditional home button and big bezels met an unfortunate early demise, and the company moved on to the Galaxy S8 and introduced us to the Infinity display, which threw away most of that bezel and the home button for a higher screen-to-body […]

Samsung said to ditch the Galaxy S10 iris scanner

The Galaxy S10 iris scanner might be on the chopping block. This biometric authentication technology was first introduced by Samsung in 2016 with the ill-fated Galaxy Note 7. It has been a staple on all flagship Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note series handsets since then. The company will presumably be doing away with the […]
