Samsung has finally broken its silence after months of rumors that it was interested in acquiring Tidal, the music streaming service owned by rap mogul Jay-Z, but it's not what you might think. The company has confirmed that it has no intention of acquiring Tidal. “The rumor of Samsung acquiring Tidal is not true,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed to Variety.

It was rumored recently that Samsung has restarted talks with the music streaming company to come to an agreement on a possible acquisition. So either it never started talking with Tidal about this possibility or talks have not been productive so much so that Samsung doesn't even want to acquire Tidal now. The question remains though, what is the company going to do to counter popular music streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music? Milk Music isn't winning any battles which is why it was believed in the first place that Samsung might be interested in Tidal. We'll have to wait and see how Samsung plays this one out.

The Galaxy S7’s ‘Tidal’ Wave could involve Jay-Z’s sinking music platform

Jay-Z and Samsung seem to be having a rough time in the music business. Jay-Z’s investment in music streaming platform Tidal hasn’t gone as planned, and Samsung’s Milk Music hasn’t achieved the success the Korean manufacturer believed it would when the company launched the music service back in 2014. When you’re on the struggling end, you […]
