Galaxy S6 early reviews applaud Samsung’s latest and greatest

The Galaxy S6 and S6 edge have yet to arrive on the worldwide market (and won’t do so until next month), but that hasn’t stopped reviewers from going public with some details about what consumers can expect when they own a piece of Samsung history next month. To find out more, keep reading.

Design: Out of the Dark Ages

The Galaxy S6 has earned its “six appeal” for its aluminum and glass design, with early device reviewers stating that, in their eyes, Samsung has finally emerged with a design that meets premium device expectations. At the same time, however, there are two issues with the new redesign: first, a glass design makes for an annoying “fingerprint magnet,” since the “shimmer and shine” glow of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge will showcase your fingerprint smudges and smears at every turn.

Android Authority (AA) points out the fragility of the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge’s back camera lens cover. If you intend to showcase your Galaxy S6 or S6 edge, the last thing you’ll want to do is have the device hit concrete or a hard service. AA still used the 16MP camera to take excellent photos, but the fragility of the lens cover with regard to hard surfaces doesn’t inspire confidence in the new design, the site says.

    Battery Life

Early reviewers didn’t focus too much on battery life, but they do point out that battery life is on par with what Galaxy S5 users experienced: 13-15 hours, with about 3-4 hours of on-screen time (SOT). The consensus on battery life is that you can expect about a day or a little over a day with full use. What tech reviewers missed, however, concerns Samsung’s Power Saving Mode and Ultra Power Saving Mode enhancements. These two battery-saving modes should help users with additional power needs in addition to in-built wireless charging and fast-charging capabilities.
