Alleged Galaxy S6 battery images hint at 2,600 mAh capacity again

If you were holding on to hope that the battery on the Galaxy S6 won't be as small in capacity as recent leaks have said it will be, then you might not like the latest scoop about Samsung's upcoming flagship. Images of what is allegedly the battery pack for the Galaxy S6 have been posted on Chinese microblogging site Weibo, and they all show a battery that has a capacity of 2,600 mAh.

What makes it possible that these images are the real deal is the model number on the battery packs. The model number is EB-BG925ABE, which includes G925 in the middle. That's expected to be the model number for the Galaxy S6 Edge, and since replacement batteries for the Galaxy S5 were codenamed EB-BG900BBC (where G900 is the model number of the S5), it's entirely plausible that we're looking at the batteries of the S6/S6 Edge here (not to mention leaks from Weibo often tend to be accurate.)

The thought of a 2,600 mAh battery on a flagship phone in 2015 is certainly scary, so it looks like Samsung is really confident on the power efficiency of its 14nm Exynos 7420 processor, and possibly the optimization of the S6's software. Less than two weeks are left before the Galaxy S6 is set to go official, so it won't be long before we find everything about the most anticipated smartphone this year.
