Rabobank, one of the largest financial institutions in the Netherlands, is offering mobile wallet solution to its Dutch customers through Rabo Wallet app, which is compatible with the Galaxy S4 and the Galaxy Note 3. The app is developed by Giesecke & Devrient (G&D), a Munich-based technology group, in collaboration with Samsung. The app is based on Convego AppWorld platform, and uses G&D's Trusted Service Management, which is connected to Samsung's provisioning solution, to securely transmit sensitive information. Users can pay for their bills, check balance, store loyalty cards, and redeem digital vouchers using NFC through contactless terminals in shops.

Press Release   Dutch Rabobank Implements Mobile Wallet with Secure Payment App from G&D Utrecht/Munich, February 12, 2015 – Rabobank, one of the largest financial institutions in the Netherlands, is now offering its customers an easy-to-use, secure and private mobile payment system. With its innovative and highly secure Convego AppWorld solution for smartphones, Munich-based technology group Giesecke & Devrient (G&D) provides the service platform for this ground-breaking solution for mobile payments and mobile value added services.   Dutch consumers are now able to use their Samsung S4 and Note 3 smartphones to pay for their shopping, check balances, store loyalty cards and to redeem digital vouchers via Near Field Communication (NFC) in shops that are equipped with contactless terminals. The Rabo Wallet is based on G&D’s mobile application platform Convego AppWorld and is supported by G&D’s Trusted Service Management (TSM) service for secure mobile payments. G&D’s TSM service, which is connected to Samsung’s provisioning solution, lays the foundation for the secure transmission of sensitive applications to mobile phones. It enables Rabobank to securely manage the complete life cycle of its mobile debit card after issuance. Convego AppWorld provides superior flexibility when it comes to the introduction and provision of additional services within the Rabo Wallet. Rabobank and its partners can now use the Convego AppWorld development kit to set up further services and offer them directly in real time to their customers via the remote G&D managed services.   “Today, G&D is a market leader in the field of user-friendly and highly secure mobile apps,” explains Edgar Salib, Group Senior Vice President and Head of the Financial Institutions division at G&D. “We are delighted that with our Convego AppWorld end-to-end solution we have been able to support the launch of the Rabo Wallet to the satisfaction of Rabobank.”   A strategic partnership between Samsung and G&D makes it possible to provide service providers and partners such as Rabobank with a comprehensive package of innovative mobile solutions including the full lifecycle management for mobile payment cards. Using the G&D TSM hub connected to Samsung’s provisioning solution, service providers can send data via mobile communications to the Embedded Secure Element of a Samsung smartphone and provide it with up-to-date personalized user data.
