In the world of mobile, it's becoming more and more of a trend that the software on a device is what matters and not the hardware, as companies move to offer a better user experience at extremely low price points. Samsung is currently lagging in that regard, but it seems that isn't deterring Samsung from moving some of its software engineers in the mobile department to other parts of the company. Around 500 software engineers from the mobile division will be moved to the consumer electronics, TVs, network, printer and corporate software divisions, as Samsung looks towards strengthening “the company's overall software prowess.”

It's worth noting that this will include engineers that work on Android as well as Samsung's in-house Tizen OS, and the transfer of these engineers to other segments is a move a Seoul-based analyst thinks “shows less determination on Tizen smartphones.” However, it's a decision that might help the company offer better integration between its mobile devices and other electronic products (like TVs and wearables), though it remains to be seen if it will have a noticeable effect on Samsung's current mobile development scene.
