Samsung has released the Android 4.4 KitKat kernel source for Sprint’s Galaxy S4 variant, which is great news for Galaxy S4 users on the U.S. carrier. Samsung does not release kernel source code for non-official builds, so the availability of the KitKat kernel means that users should be receiving official Android 4.4 KitKat OTA updates soon. Samsung has been releasing kernel source code for a host of devices lately on its Open Source Release Center. Just yesterday, it released the kernel source for the Note Pro 12.2 and the Tab Pro 10.1.

There has been no official confirmation from either Sprint or Samsung as to when users would begin receiving the KitKat update, but it should not be long now. The firmware build number is L720VPUFNAE, and the download size is at 861 MB. If you like building custom kernels, head over to the link below and start tweaking.
