Report: Galaxy Gear 2 to feature considerably different design, flexible display

The Galaxy Gear, unlike what the critics say, is a rather nice smartwatch, but when it comes to the design, it is rather uninspired. Samsung has acknowledged that they could have done better and are working on making the Galaxy Gear 2 more fashionable, and according to ZDNet, the Gear 2 will also feature a radically different design than its predecessor, with all the “dull and boring parts” improved to make the smartwatch look more attractive. Furthermore, the display will be a flexible OLED unit – many had expected to see a flexible display on the Galaxy Gear but that didn’t come to pass, and it looks like Samsung will be rectifying that in the next iteration of the smartwatch.

According to the report, the Galaxy Gear 2 will be officially unveiled sometime in March or April. With the Galaxy S5 also expected to be announced in March, it’s likely the Galaxy Gear 2 will make an appearance alongside the company’s next flagship, and we’ll certainly be impatiently waiting to see what improvements and changes Samsung makes to its second-generation smartwatch.

  1. I would rather see them updating the watch to be compatible with Android in general, instead of keeping it to a small selection of Galaxy models as is today. Instead of rapidly getting out new devices, I would like to see Samsung to maintain the existing products !

    • Updates from samsung! LOL

      • Are you a Sony fanboy or something? Maybe you ought to tell them about their pathetic updates of their 2012 models and also to HTC/LG who couldn’t be half arsed with their One X + and Optimus G flagship models to 4.4.2.

        • Im above fanboyism… Only thing matters if it work or not and does it do it is supposed to do. Doesnt matter who have done it, but who makes things work. No, im not sony fanboy, no samboy, no appleboy. My phone is made by samsung, my watch is made by sony, my laptop is made by asus and console is from microsoft. it just the reality and things work or not.

Because it is known fact that htc sucks, i dont hve htc. Not sure bout lg, but they seems to hve problems nowadays. this site is ads for samsung, so mostly im interested in criticising them If this site was dedicated to the glory of htc, you prob. would sed critic agains htc…

  2. They should check Sony Smartwatch 2. Stylish, classy, metal wristband, cool design, working with Android 4.0+

Gear: Rubber, unchangable band? Really Samsung, making toys for adults? Working with… ehm.. with what?

    • I’ll hold out my judgment until I try the Sony smartwatch but Sony….meh! Just not digging what they once were.

  3. It is fairly simple. Computers are compatible to Microsoft’s updates for quite a few years, that makes my computer a good companion for quite some time. An Android device is nothing but a small computer, all compatible Hardware is clearly known, so there is absolutely no reason to NOT give the users any updates. All excuses to not update our phones remain cheap excuses for the sake of spamming the world with new hardware. That’s just foul!
