With Android phones and tablets spread over different price points, a dedicated media player running Android OS does not make much sense. But Samsung thinks differently and is evident with the recently leaked YP-GI2. The device has been certified by the usual standard certification agencies but according to the new info, the YP-GI2 will be marketed in Korea as an Android-based home phone.
The home phone concept is also not new for Samsung as they launched a device with the same ‘Galaxy 070' name in 2011 but instead of LG U+, the new Galaxy 070 will be launched on KT.
The device will run Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS and feature 1.2GHz dual-core processor, WVGA display, front and back cameras, Play Store support, Wi-Fi.
While this device looks like South Korea-only, if Samsung plans an international variant, we might get to see it at the IFA next month where we'll report live from the venue.
