Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S
Google has started rolling out the Android 4.1.2 update for the Galaxy Nexus and Nexus S devices. The update is being rolled over the air and claims to improve performance along with stability and bug fixes.
However, the landscape home screen orientation that was brought to the Nexus tablet is still missing from the Nexus smartphones.
The update is at the moment only available for GSM-based devices and will be rolled out later for CDMA-based Nexus phones.
Google only update by FOTA (firmware over the air) so make sure the Wi-Fi connection is on
Lets hope we will see Jelly Bean soon for the non Nexus devices.

Jb 4.1.2 should be out for galaxy s 3 sometime around october 30th ……………………….2014

This is why I love the idea of a Nexus Phone. Pure Android and Updates come on time.
Things dissuading me from Nexus where:
1. the comparatively lower end hardware.
2. and the fact that processing power king Samsung was posting its binaries so that xda developers could easily churn out the latest versions of Android for Samsung as soon as it was released. Why bother with the weaker Nexus when you can have the most powerful hardware and thanks to the binaries the latest versions of Android published by the XDA Community?
With Flagship level processing power about to come to Nexus and Samsung refusing to release its binaries things might never be the same again…
I would hope given its delays that when Samsung does finally release its JB firmware for the S3 and S2 Galaxy phones they are based on the 4.1.2 version but that’s probably wishful thinking…

Wishfull thinking is not the word. Can i have friday nights winning lotto numbers too while your at it.

@Samsung : now stop making hell lot of phones & keep the existing phone up to the mark.
As a Galaxy S3 owner, I sometimes feel cheated by choosing S3…:(

What a runaway train ride! Samsung is running, but from what? It is abnormal for this rate of smartphones mutiplication. Something is going on for sure. Lets take a picture: produce more phones and low quality firmwares. they don’t care about updates for one. The more you think about this, the more it is sickening. What is next for tomorrow? who knows maybe just before Christmas Google might decide to play Santa and release 4.5/5.0 Butter Cup, or maybe “SweetBread”, “CornBread”, “Blue Berry Cake”

awesome…time to muv to nexus. I don’t mind the low quality firmware to begin with..that will probably change over time and soon…however, samsung is know for their crappy update cycles…

Imported both from overseas as it takes forever to get them in Australia
if you are loyal to samsung they drop you in it
They fight with apple and its the customer that pays the price no updates

mf aren’t good with updating on time >.<

If S3 has 4.0.4, if you want to update to 4.1.1 or 4.1.2, wait for S4. If note 1 has 4..0.4 and you want to update to jelly bean, then buy the Note 2.
So for every new Android update from Google, means buy new phone model from Samsung. That’s what it means update to Samsung.

i my option i think sgs s3 should just skip to 4.1.2 instead of 4.1.1

by the time 5.0 (banana split) comes out sgs s4 with tw 6.5

even if Samsung decided to take care of their customers in the future.. i’m ditching Samsung for life. doing something because you’re pushed to do it is very different from doing something because you want to do it.
i’m happy that Samsung began loosing customers, many of my friends feel disappointed because of Samsung update policy while they’re watching their iPhone colleagues and nexus colleagues enjoying new features every couple of months.
my S2 is my last samsung phone ever

Smash that s2 off the ground. That will show samsung.

Better to buy nexus rather than other manufacturer. We need not to wait for android updates.

Regarding the s2 it’s not only that they don’t do anything regarding JB, they don’t help either the community with the sources and specifications…

Nothing changes if all our complains ends here. Let’s take these to Samsung.

So stop cryin’ guys… I was bored of waiting for JB as you are, but there’s a simple solution for your probs: download (for example) the swedish version (sammobile.com
) and flash it yourself with odin. Costs you only about 10 minutes for download and 5 minutes to flash.
