Tizen 2.0 running on reference device (GT-i9500)
Today we found some photos of Tizen 2.0 (codename Magnolia) running on the Tizen reference device (GT-i9500) which is made by Samsung. As you will see the interface is mostly the same like on Tizen 1.0 (codename Larkspur), most changes are made under the hood.
We are looking forward to see the first Tizen based devices, our expectation is that Samsung will announce their first Tizen device in the first half of 2013 which could be on Mobile World Congress 2013.

After watching what Samsung did with Bada… Why should I trust them now? And no, the company of Intel is not enough for considering Tizen as a trustful mobile OS. Really tired of promises that go nowhere.

Samsung should focus on Android and improving their products. Android gave Samsung their break in the mobile market. What made the Galaxy S range special was two things:
1. Support for the xda community with SoC binaries and documentation
2. Hardware that was head & shoulders above the competition
The S2 remained unchallenged for close to a year when it came to hardware performance whereas the S3 was in troubled waters from day one. The HTC One traded blows with it and 2-3 months later we have S4Pro Quad SoCs about to come out that will absolutely obliterate it.
With the S3 we see locked bootloaders and such bad binary support (S2 & S3) that xda developers are now dropping support for it and advising against Samsung devices.
An improvement in construction quality would certainly be welcomed. Look at HTC & Motorola build quality and see how the S3 Galaxy compares.
There’s so much scope for improvement in what Samsung is currently doing why are they stretching themselves even thinner with Tizen??

Addled: while many things you said are true (build quality, some problems with keeping up with the competition, especially with incoming S4Pro+Adreno320, and bad Bada support ending in some sorts of dead end (almost) ), the BOOTLOADER is the problem of HTC One X, that’s why the support from XDA (even they have problems with unlocking it WITHOUT VOIDING THE WARRANTEE!) is quite weaker. Same goes for some Moto models.. Don’t go spreading lies, ok? The support from XDA is equivalent to the Android market share, and is by far the greatest. Advising against.. Haha, who exactly? Where are the dragons in this fairytale?

@PLANET: Please go and see XDA Developer TV Producer Azrienoch’s rant on Samsung. It’s called “Samsung, What Did We Do to Make You Hate Us?”
There have been several articles reporting xda developers complaints of Samsung of late. The same developers also claim that the Qualcomm S4 based HTC SoC’s are now easier to develop for. Please feel free to use GOOGLE search engine of Androids parent company to check.
You might also want to google S3 Galaxy locked bootloaders and developer edition phones while you at it
I’d love to spoon feed you all the links proving everything I said but that results in the comment being blocked on this forum. Still, take it from me, using Google search to find everything is easy enough. And one last thing, if you really have to resort to petty insults and condescending remarks at least do your research before doing it…

OK, you both take your useless fight out of this post. It’s about OS, hardware is not interesting here (so don’t get angry if somebody considers you a flamer ir a troll).
Samsung abandoned Bada, similar as Intel did with Maemo/Meego/whatever, so the question is why we must believe Samsung won’t do the same with Tizen!
