Samsung not keen to engage in OS wars

Verizon’s chief executive recently commented that given Samsung’s number one smartphone maker status, they could try to develop their own smartphone OS. However, Kevin Packingham, chief product officer at Samsung has responded in negative.
Packingham says “that’s not core to Samsung’s strategy” but Samsung sees more potential in working with companies like Intel for Tizen.

Packingham also commented on Google’s acquisition of Motorola and how Google has kept it separate, ensuring the same treatment to other OEMs as Motorola.

I don’t think that that guy is paying attention, Samsung already have their own smartphone OS in Bada.

Also they have an investment in Tizen.

That is why an excuse of not engaging OS war is used for reasoning, because they don’t know how to produce OS let alone a high quality one. Hence the problems with updates – too many machine with different zones, series, signal providers etc. Apple has to worry about one serie, 3 machines, and a global chip compatible with most frequencies. As restricted as they are, it is probably why they are still successful because of the word “No”.

Actually Samsung won’t have to worry about competing with Apple in the future because it will be above their paygrade. There are companies that on the rise to compete with Sam anyway. Sam may seem to have better phone but they don’t.

Bada never be compatible with dual core processors, quad core ……. as long as they have a contract with Google, no development. But Tizen can solve the problem
