Because of many problems with Apple, Verizon CEO suggests to Samsung to make their own Smartphone OS.
The problem by Samsung is the patents of software which is claimed by Apple, Google and Microsoft. the 3 biggest software giants.
Samsung already tried before by using their own OS, first bada and now will try it with TIZEN.
The first sad thing about TIZEN is already a fact. Samsung just gave the nice looking gallery of TIZEN OS to Android.
Another sad thing by Samsung is of course the updates… Every update takes too long.
Samsung isn’t a very good software writer but everything could change.
We of SamMobile would love to see some own software by Samsung.
Samsung’s bada OS isn’t that bad but the software updates are really bad and slow.
Samsung will start shipping new bada/TIZEN devices in 2013 so there is still software hope!
to hell those multiple OS’s. better one but good.
Gonna switch to nexus device next time anyways. Sick and tired of waiting two/three months for an update bulked with crap like music hub. Just deliver the good hardware they have with at least the ability to install a stock skin without all the bulk and be happy with the gains on the hardware instead of phishing for other incomes like music purchase.

Bada isn’t bad, it is worse. What is the purpose of super amoled, dual core etc when the software is not optimized for the hardware. Moreover, there are very few apps for Bada. No skype, no updated version of google maps. Even Asphalt 5 terribly lags on Bada 2.0 on Wave 1, on Bada 1.2, it was good.

Android finally has massive market acceptance and between Android, Apple and Microsoft patents it would be a nightmare trying to navigate through all the requirements needed to avoid infringing on the hundreds of thousands of patents covering touch screen UI if developing yet another OS. Samsungs best bet is to stick with Android and make the ‘samsung feel/branding’ a skin that is easily replaced.

agree to davidf, but coding UI is not an overnight success. Apple and Microsoft have been at it since….. Samsung would first have to start thinking of “copying” other OS and start coding their own which I think is very far fetch. Rim and Nokia is getting help from other well known business in OS foundation. I would say that if Apple is to be challenged “seriously” someone should start making smartphones and OS like the one depicted in Tony Stark Iron Man. I mean tear down Apple’s coding system(forget it) and whip up a new landmark OS. Go in diffrent directions. It is about idea, the same idea that got Samsung into deep water. So, make your own. Plagarism is illegal.

there are other alternatives, the question is, is any company out there dare to put their stake on it like Apple did? This is why Apple is still leading because they pioneered smartphone and not anyone else.

it’s simple and easy
just follow these steps:
1-get rid of BAD(A) and TIZEN OS
2-make a fresh OS and name it (SamOS)
3-make a team of software developer with support of allready xda programmers.
4-make one file software update for each device. like apple does. dont make too many update files for a single device. this is important one update for all S3, and one update for all Note and so on.
5-let the new software to be easily rooted or jailbreaked like apple does (but don’t copy apple)
6-the OS should look simple but hide a powerfull tool, fast loading every single app. less crash less battery comsume.

There already a lot of mobile os already (from Java to iOS, Android, WM). It will be pain in the ass for developer to cover all the mobile os platform, at the end we as consumer will get disadvantage (the apps not available) because developer have said enough with those. The only war against apple is Samsung touchwiz and UI, their to similar to apple iOS, Google said Android already have no patent issue (yet) with Apple. But the fact now Samsung already make better movement on their progress. They already change their icons rounded corner and image (except if Apple still pursue Samsung using phone icon for phone app, that ridiculous).
Apple just make fool of their customer (or their fans stupid enough), they just rename technology that already there. When I first handle iPhone 3G I was thought that it can do 3G features, but 3G mean 3rd generation, that fool peoples, iPhone 3G cant do Video Call, when the launch 4G, then the customer can do Video call which already done by Sony K500 a long time ago (what a fool) and they change the name to Face Time (to make it like new technology).
And now developer must watch their ass, specially Cydia apps developer, there many idea from Cydia apps that been implemented on new iOS and patented. Apple just hunger of patent to control the technology, Woz must kick Apple devs to start invent, not just patent. It was great moment when Woz create 1st cpu, but Jobs ruin the invention means.
