SamMobile @IFA 2012

This year SamMobile joined IFA for the first time. On IFA Samsung has announced a few new products like Galaxy Note II, Galaxy Camera, ATIV Tab and more! We’ve spent some time playing with these new products, below you can read our first impressions with a hands-on video.

Galaxy Note II
The Galaxy Note II is as you probably will know the successor of the original Galaxy Note. This product been pretty successful and has shown that there is a market on these kinds of products. The Galaxy Note II is just a little bit bigger than its predecessor. Overall the phone looks better and feels also better in the hand, although it feels plasticky. We liked the performance, even though it was running beta software. We also liked the new Gallery which we already saw from Tizen and the new features that are specially made for the S-Pen, which works pretty good.

With a price of  600 euros it’s not cheap but we believe that the device will even sell better than its predecessor. We can’t wait to review this device, so stay tuned for more!

Galaxy Camera
On the Unpacked Event on the evening before the start of IFA 2012, Samsung announced a new product the Galaxy Camera. It’s a camera running on the latest version of Android (4.1 Jelly Bean) on top of Android you’ll find Samsung’s Touchwiz interface. The interface is the same what we saw from the Galaxy SIII and the Galaxy Note II.  The device is running on a quad-core processor and it has a giant 4.8 inch screen. Navigation through the menu was seamlessly and a smooth. The pictures that we taken were pretty good but we can’t judge about the quality since we couldn’t compare it other camera’s.  We’ve noticed that the software is in its early stages since some demo units were quite slow with taken pictures.  The retail price will be between 500 – 600 euros and it will be available in October.

ATIV Tab
The ATIV Tab is Samsung’s first tablet running Windows RT which is specially designed to run on ARM processors. Its running on a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor (dual-core) which delivers in combination with Windows 8 RT a fast and fluid experience. The tablet is made of plastic which is the same as on the latest Galaxy devices like the SIII and the Note II, but it feel comfortably in the hands, it’s also pretty lightweight for a 10+ inch tablet. Samsung managed to put a full-sized USB port and a Micro HDMI port into the tablet which is just 9mm thin. The ATIV Tab has a 10.1 inch PLS display with a resolution of 1366×768.

Overall we are pretty pleased with the ATIV Tab and we can’t wait to review this new tablet.

Others:
We saw some more interesting products like ATIV SmartPC tablet based on Intel Atom Clover Trail processor which are exclusively for Windows 8 and the new 15 inch series 9 laptop. We also saw the prototypes of Samsung’s Memo PC, Swivel and dual screen laptop.
