Android port for the Samsung Wave (GT-S8500)
Samsung’s maiden Wave device can now run Google’s Android 4.0 aka Ice Cream Sandwich OS. The feat was achieved by an XDA Forum developer who was working on it for the past couple of months and successfully managed to run on Android 4.0.4 on the defunct device. Admittedly, not yet ready for mass consumption, Wave users who know their way to flashing firmware can give it a try.
Some of the things that seem to work are Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, camera whereas voice calling, SMS and MMS don’t work.
If you want you also can follow all his updates on the forums of SamMobile in this topic.
Good news, the developer (MikeyG) will try to make this run on the Samsung Wave II there are no words about the Wave3 yet.

Very Good! I have a Wave 1.
But without voice call functions and SMS, the phone will be pretty much useless, am I right? whats the point of a “phone” then? :p
Good for a start though, keep it up!
However I might get a Galaxy S3 since Ive had the wave for two years now..

There is no reason for installing this now, ´cause the basic funcionalities won´t be available.
You cannot make a call, receive a call, or send/receive sms´s.

Display calibrating problems, keyboard problems, wi-fi can use only static ip, SD card not working, NO MODEM DRIVERS at all (so no calls, no sms-mms, no 2G-3G internet). This port turns wave into very useless device, it is actually nothing than a micro Pad (I would say nano Pad as the screen is too small
with very limited capabilities.
And yea..wave is two years old. There’s no reason to put android to this device.
And you must understand – the port never will be done. Schoolboy cannot write modem driver, so you’ll never get calls-sms-mms with this port.
