Samsung is willing to invest more in bada

According to Samsung’s senior vice president of product strategy Juha Park Samsung is willing to invest more in their own bada platform. Park said in an interview yesterday at MWC that they ”believe its a good platform to build on” . Samsung wants to have a  ”full range of portfolio for Bada, from high-end to mass-volume segments.”

Samsung has sold 8 to 9 million bada devices in 2011 and in 2010 they sold about 2 million devices. In Q4 of last year bada had 2.1 percent market share.

Park said also that Samsung will remain their multiple OS strategy and said that they will also introduce smartphones and tablets running on Microsoft’s software. About Android he comfired that the biggest part of their smartphone portofollio will be running on Android and that they will unveil a successor to the Galaxy S2 in Q2.

As you can read in my editorial A Look at bada, the past and the future I mentioned that ” If they want to take bada to a new level they should do more than what they have done till now”.

What do you think is this a good sign or not? Well hopefully this a good sign that Samsung will take bada to the next level.

It seems good but I remember they said something similar like a year ago before they announced bada 2.0 so I’m kinda sceptic about that. :)

Well, at least now is there plans from viber to do a app for bada. Maybe some “good developers” create some bada apps ’till the end of the year. If don’t, we still have the badadroid project ;) . At least to me the next step is to open the OS, or something like it.

That would be a good news but samsung needs to release source for Bada.
They need it, Android become big because of his community and developpers would help Samsung to improve Bada.
There is no place for closed OS, Bada needs more apps too.

At first, for having using 10 month a Wave, the main default is “samsung apps”. Absolutely useless compared in android market. Too little apps, and for those who are in, they are without interest.
Without this default, Bada works good

I agree Lasentenza, maybe if the community of developers send a email, undersigned or something to Samsung they realize that the problem of bada are these two… mainly the developers problem, and probably will have more developers to develope apps too, if they release the source, like you told.

Same old story from Samsung. Seeing is believing! What people have experienced with Bada by now is a lot of delays and half jobs done. This time probably few people believe what Samsung says about Bada, and among them, most do not even care any more. Otherwise, customers would have expressed some interest in Wave III by now.

Bada 2.0 is very nice. I prefer it over Android. The quality of Bada devices also looks better. It would be a mistake if Samsung drops this OS….

I tested bada, it is important not to stop moving forward with this OS! Remember that this is a new firmware and like everything new must learn to grow!
Hey babies really need to learn to walk before you walk alone, if you send what I mean!
et je trouve que Bada 2.0 est pas mal !
